21 September - LONDON
Thomsons Online Benefits, the global benefits management and employee engagement software company and a wholly owned subsidiary of Mercer, has today announced the appointment of Joanna Bean as Head of People.
Joanna joins Thomsons after fifteen years at Samsung Electronics, where her most recent position was Head of Reward for UK & Ireland. Under her guidance, and with Thomsons’ support, the Samsung team won multiple awards for their work, including Best Benefits Communications – Large Employer from Employee Benefits, and Joanna received the ultimate recognition in 2016, winning the Employee Benefits Professional of the Year award.
In her role at Thomsons, Joanna will be responsible for guiding and implementing the company’s overall people strategy, overseeing all parts of the HR function from business partnering to benefits and reward. She will report into Lynda Greeves, People & Marketing Director.
“From the moment that I walked in the door of Thomsons as a client, I knew that this was a special company. It is an environment that I already know and love, with a unique culture that challenges, demands excellence, and is wholly focused on its amazing people.” said Joanna Bean. “When I joined Samsung, it had less than 100 people in the UK; now it has more than 1,600. My experience navigating the challenges of a fast-growth, global technology company means Thomsons is the perfect fit for me, and I can’t wait to get started.”
Lynda Greeves, Director, People & Marketing said: “As we continue to change benefits for good - both for our clients as well as for Thomsons People - Joanna’s appointment will further bolster our people strategy and ensure we continue to offer the best experience possible.”
Stephen Read, CEO, Thomsons Online Benefits, said: “Joanna is an excellent addition to the Thomsons team. She will be integral in working with our senior leadership team to continue to cultivate our unique culture, as we build on the incredible growth we have seen as part of the Mercer family.”
Michael Whitfield, Founder and Chief Culture Architect added “When I first met Joanna, many years ago, it was obvious to me that we shared the same values despite working for two very different businesses. I think she is one of the most significant hires we have ever made and I feel incredibly proud that she has decided to continue her people journey by climbing aboard the Thomsons pink rocket ship”.
